This Summer, MaryEvyn and I started reading about two particular topics:
The Prairie
(as in Little House in the Big Woods and corresponding prairie non-fiction)
and The City!
So, yesterday we wrapped it all up with one big field trip.
And guess what? I found both in one place:
Downtown Houston!
Who knew?
Who knew?
This cabin made with rough hewn cedar logs in 1823 was moved from Clear Creek
in 1973 and resides with 8 other historical homes in Sam Houston Park!
Inside were real butter churns, authentic horn utensils, an old plow, rope beds and more
straight from the pages of Little House!
In the gardens.
Right across the street is the Houston Central Public Library!
Evy was in heaven!! She could have spent all day right there!
Right next to the library is the Wells Fargo building which is the second tallest building in Houston (the first is the Chase Building). There is a sky lobby on the 58th floor!
Breathtaking!
After a cookie snack in the tunnels, it was time to head home!
We finished off the day by meeting Evy's first grade teacher at school. She is so excited!
What a super way to end our summer!
what a great little trip!
